The concept of sustainable development, embraced by the 2030 Agenda and unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, is based on four pillars: certainly the environmental one, but also the economic, the institutional and the social one.
Economic sustainability concerns the ability of an economic system to generate income and employment in a lasting way; environmental sustainability relates to protecting ecosystems and renewing natural resources; social sustainability is the ability to ensure conditions of human well-being.

MISSION

Research and assessment of the environmental aspects of production through LCA analysis. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an analytical and systematic methodology that evaluates the environmental footprint of a product or service over its entire life cycle. The calculation spans from the extraction of raw materials that make up the product, to its production, distribution, use and final disposal, returning the environmental impact values associated with its life cycle.

HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM

To reduce energy consumption:
The production site was designed to limit methane gas consumption through a series of heat recovery systems that use both cooling heat and heat transferred from the kiln casing for space heating and for operating the dryers. The methane savings achieved amount to 15%.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT

The production site is equipped with an efficient physico-chemical water treatment plant and a system for recovering treated water, which is reused in the production process, thus limiting groundwater extraction. These systems enable a 15% reduction in water consumption per kg of product.

PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM

For energy savings:
The production site is equipped with a photovoltaic system that generates renewable energy,
covering about 30% of the plant’s energy needs.

REDUCTION IN ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION

Electricity consumption is constantly monitored and reduced through the use of LED lighting throughout the entire plant, the adoption of high-efficiency motors for the main equipment and next-generation inverter compressors. Estimated savings amount to 26% of grid electricity consumption and a reduction of 200t/year of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

WASTE RECYCLING

Raw product scraps are entirely reused for the production of ceramic bodies. Plaster molds and sludge are disposed of 100% at the Ceramic Center, for recycling into building products.

HIGHERGLAZE

Superior quality thanks to the innovative Higherglaze coating applied to ceramic directly before firing and used on both washbasins and sanitaryware. The surface is perfectly smooth, preventing dirt and limescale from settling. This guarantees long-lasting shine, a pleasant feel to the touch, high protection against scratches, abrasions and external agents. The exceptional ease of cleaning also enables reduced use of polluting products, as well as lower water consumption.
